Description: It is fall around here. My absolute favorite time of year!! Here's the peanut, almost 17 months and getting too big for me! Although, it's hard to tel lin photos, she is still quite peanut-ish. STILL not on the damn growth chart ;)

Description: 14 months...we're getting better at sitting and looking at the camera. Still don't get the full-out grin, but on a whole, she is cooperating more ;) I just finished sewing this monkey dress for her. She's quite the little monkey so it "fits."

Description: Baby Bird's birthday was on Monday. Here's her enjoying her cake it all her glory. I really like my new lens, it's fast, and sharp, and lightweight..BUT inside I pretty much have to use it wide open, or crank up the ISO. I don't like noise.....but at 1.4 pretty much just the eyes get sharp, and if they're not on the same plane...just the one. Some people dig this look, a lot. I see it everywhere in children's portraiture. Anyways, just thought I'd share her special day.

Description: This week's theme at i heart faces is an entry for a "BLurb Book" that they will be publishing. This is my "best" close-up face shot. I really focused on her eyes and I'm pleased with how my new techniques came out... They are having two categories: amateur and professional. Because I make money on occasion for my photos I had to enter the "professional" category. Kind of daunting! PS. This is from her birthday session...she will be a year a week from today!!

Description: I entered this photo in the "amateur" category this week. The theme was "Spring/Easter." The weather/baby/camera have not cooperated for a great pic of these themes. But I liked this one I took today at the Heritage Farm Museum. Used the 50mm lens of course. I'm loving the ability to take indoor shots with no flash :) For a kid who smiles 99.9% of the time I can't get her to do it for just me and the camera, ugh!

Description: I kinow you some of you aren't fans of blurry foregrounds focused backgrounds...but i saw an opportunity to take such a shot and I like it, personally. I have a question....does the rule of thirds apply with portraits as well? I always just try for a balanced crop but I got "reprimanded" on Feedback Friday by someone for not following the rule of thirds...just curious.

Description: I finally got my new 50mm 1.4 lens yesterday. So excited about it. I'm still learning how to use it to my advantage obviously and I haven't taken it outside yet....but here's one from yesterday. Inside, all natural light (one of the reasons I went for it). Obviously I used a VERY shallow DOF so I was going fo the very sharp eyes, not so much everything else, look.
