This photgraph, showing the southern escarpment of El Torcal was taken from about 3 km to the south of the town.
El Torcal is often refered to as "El Torcal de Antequera" - Antequera being the much larger town to the North.
This photograph lends weight to Villanueva de la Concepción's claim to be "La Villa de El Torcal".
Have a look at some of my photographs showing some of the fantastic limestone formations in this amazing place.

I know this type of vista shot is very tempting (and we've all taken them)...but there just isn't enough subject interest within the frame here...it needs something in the foreground to add depth, that extra dimension, reference points, etc. Otherwise it just comes across as flat. Also, the shot is somewhat over-exposed and needs darkening, etc., via editing software.

Unfortunately, the camera doesn't/cannot capture the full range of real-life sensory data that we feel/perceive & experience when we are actually standing right there viewing the scene.
So, we have to create it ourselves.

I take your point Kev . . . some foreground interest would definately improve this shot. However, my purpose with this one was to capture the whole town and show its proximity to the mountain which overhangs it. Maybe I could have found a tree or a rock to partially frame the view but I think this would have looked somewhat contrived.
Regarding the over-exposure: OK. I'll play with it further and see if I can improve it.
