I did my first shoot today with someone else's child. I have to admit, I'm pleased. Feel free to browse/comment more pics on my blog.

Hey birdie...
I like this shot - I guess with kids half the challenge is getting that facial-expression thing just right. The face & fringe (bangs to you) are nice - altho I'd personally still like to see a bit more depth overall. How about trying an f/11 or thereabouts to see what kinda result you get (?)

Also, I think I wouldn't crop her head/hair off quite like that.
The face is slightly over-exposed - it needs bringing down a bit.
These are all very simply editiing touches that you can do real quick n easy.

PS...the blog link in your profile doesn't work - you may wanna double check that...

Thanks Kev,
The shoot went really well, and she's family, my cousin's little girl, but they were really pleased. I was much more natural than I expected. I just shot her doing her three year old thing, nothing was really posed and I was happy with that. I felt the face was a little over exposed as well, I need to touch that up, still trying to figure out exactly how to do that without catastrophic results.... Can't do anything about the crop though because this is how I framed it when I snapped the shot.

I fixed the link to my blog, oops. Please check out some of the other pics. Thanks!

Dont forget...when framing the shot in camera...it's always best to leave some extra space around the subject matter..so that you can then crop it just how you want later on.
