This kind of shallow depth of field picture is very fashionable at the moment, but it would be better rather than putting the point of focus in the centre of the frame, to put it one third of the way in.

I do like this shot - altho, IF one is going to do it - I think that the part which 'is' sharp - should be MEGA sharp - to really focus ones attention there and to maximize the visual effect - your's is a bit soft.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
