The top half is great, it goes a bit soft at the bottom but at this aperture what can you do? I think you were right not to use too much flash as this would have made the shadows very black. I like the crop and the curtain, they give the picture a bit of a story instead of yet another boring (bored?) cat photo.

Yes, the head region is very nice, and then it gets soft on the way down. The crop is interesting - not sure how I visually like that tho - haven't decided yet.
Yep, cats sure are the boss - I admire their individualism & aloofness, I'm a loner myself, so that probably explains it Smile

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
