Trying my hand at a spot of minimalism here.
Trying to bring out the "old" in H[old]en which is the local variant of General Motors here in Aus.
The focus and composition was deliberate to try to emphasise the old and underline the brand.
The question is, did it work?

Not quite, it doesn't immediately draw the eye in to the word "old"...or at least, not to me. I only fixated on it...after reading your info text. I think the letter "H" has to be more blurry...like the "en" in order to pull it off.

You did an admirable job, but that's a tough challenge. I didn't pick up on it either.


Being the lazy slob that I am, I probably would have cheated and gone to selective blurring and sharpening in post processing, maybe added a VERY subtle vignette around the word "old." I'm not even sure that would work; there's a fine line there before it starts to look contrived...

I like the photo, but I must agree with the others, the "H" needs to be more blurred to bring the eyes to the "old." I didn't focus on the old part, until I read the info... But I still like the photo!

Thanks for the feedback. I took this handheld at a motor rally and, in the circumstances, didn't have the opportunity to pop of another couple of shots rocking back and forth to really nail the focus point like I should have. 20/20 hindsight is a wonderful thing.
I might see what I can do in post to reduce the depth of focus for the H, as I'd like this old Holden shot to work a bit better. Cheers

Well, you can just blur the 'H' in post...and IF you do it subtle n well, nobody would know the diff Smile...altho, for this to really work great...the "d" needs to be a little less blurry too - which of course you can't really fix.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
