I like this angle much, MUCH better! It shows way more depth to the flower. Almost like I'm wearing 3D glasses. Well done.

Me as well, which just goes to show...that, stacking certainly has its place...but, as we have always said..."composition" is still king and vital to any good image.


Having said that...IF had 'stacked' this composition...it probably would have been even better still.

I'm not so sure. The brain works in strange ways, and I think in something like this, part of the depth cues are coming from gradual loss of focus as things recede into the distance or grow in size as they get closer. That's what we've taught our brain to do with photographs. So a focus stack where everything is at the same level of sharpness may actually make the image appear more two-dimensional. Especially when it's something that we're not used to seeing in this much detail in normal everyday life. I may be totally off base, but it's fun to think about in any event.
