honez Registered: August 2008 Posts: 695	Trying something different the other night, I decided to get some long exposure shots of a local lake late at night, lit only by the light of the full moon. I was quite surprised how they turned out, almost as if it was during daytime. This was a 20 second exposure, f/8 at ISO 4000. The shorter exposure on this shows the stars as points, rather than trails. See it on Flickr here, Lake Samsonvale Stars by _honez

That is awesome! I never knew you could get those kind of colors at night. I'm surprised the image doesn't have more noise.

I can't believe that I missed this back in October! This is stunning! 20 sec exp or not, how did you manage this with only moonlight?! Amazing and beautiful!

Cheers guys. I quite like how these images turned out. I've done a bit of a scout around (fairly) near here and come up with another spot that should be good; over a creek with that angle hopefully, the milky way rising over some trees. I hope I've got my compass, map, timings and astronomy work in order. It's a bit lonely out in the bush late at night with only the red belly black snakes to keep me company.
If the weather clears up I'll nip out one night and take a few shots.
