Description: I was not sure which category to place this is. The photo has a rose in it, but I don't believe it's really about the rose, or at least that was not my intent. I wanted to evoke the emotion of the memorial - to reflect on the human sacrifice of war. The memorial is more powerful that words could ever convey.

Description: I originally took a few shots of this scene with 4 chairs on the lawn. I climbed down from my perch and removed two, I like the composition better with just 2 chairs.

Description: My son with his grandparents dog. The dog is impossibly black and nearly featureless most of the time. This is unposed and I just caught then both during a Christmas time rest. My favorite feature is my son's fallen slipper.

Description: I am not really happy with the composition of this image, but for some reason I keep coming back to it. Perhaps it's because I am aware where this is; Lake of the clouds on Mt Washington, NH in late fall. A very cold and inhospitable place. Who knows what this rock has been through.

Description: I was at the fair with a good friend of mine, I saw the sign for the "lost child" station and I asked my friend to stand next to the sign. When I printed the picture I decided I really liked it, as it speaks on several different levels.
