When I saw the thumbnail of this one I thought "wow this is going to be good", but I think it is a bit too selective on the focusing, there needs to be a bit more of the subject in focus.

Nice lighting and good strong colours.

Yeah, I'm struggling with focus issues. I live in Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping through the plains! I'm using auto focus and I keep seeing out of focus pics. It looks focused when I look through the view finder.

It could be the adjustment on the view finder on the camera body or the focusing method selected. If a Canon there are usually 3 main focusing types - al servo, one shot and al focus. Not sure if this either relevant or helpful?!?!?!?

Yes, it is a Canon. That might be the problem. I'll look at my settings and my handbook. Thanks!

I find the focus just creeps sometimes, especially noticeable when shooting closeups. I think what happens is that the action of the mirror going up and down jars the lens and knocks the focusing out. I noticed it a lot when I was taking the pics of the bee last weekend. I would focus, take the shot, then look again and the focus had drifted. It might be best to change to manual focus for these really close shots.
