I think this picture could be vastly improved by darkening down all the edges. It needs to be done carefully so as not to be too obvious but, as it stands, it is the exact opposite of what it needs to be. We have a dark middle surrounded by light bits, whereas if you make the edges darker than the middle the whole picture will hold together.
