Pauline - this pic needs a bad dose of active D-lighting...it's a typical example of an indoor shot taken with crappy lighting.
However, you can lighten it up using the shadows/highlights function in PS, or other such software progs. It's simply under-exposed and the contrast has therefore been lost.
Luckily today, it's easily corrected via software - in the old film days (unless you actually had your own darkroom)...you'd be stuck with this result.
But not anymore!!! Nah!

Yes Kev.. I agree. It's a sad little picture. Sad

I was in my kitchen washing dishes, with only an overhead 75 watt bulb burning, the vase was sitting on the fireplace mantle and as I turned to look that way I saw the shadows on the wall.. In real life it looked good..
I tried getting it from different angles, with and without flash, and used the different functions that are available on my camera and this was the best I could get... I think eventually it was on Auto. the long shadow is my fireplace flue.. Oh yes nearly forgot, there was also a blue clock in the right hand corner that I got rid off in PS .... And that is really the first time I've tried to do something to make a picture look better... now that I look I can see where It was.. Ah well... I can only get better !! right ??
I'll try what you suggest and see what I can come up with... I do have the basics of PS , but I tend to do something then forget how I did it.... Sad

Smile this'll be my practise pic.. Thanks for the advice ...
