This is one of the first pics with my new toy! Not very good I know but I do like the sun trying to break through after the storm.

Hey Derek - glad you're back! I love these kind of shots with the sun's rays peeking through the clouds and I like the way the beach is curved, very atmospheric. I'm so jealous of your new Canon, keep snapping! By the way, I took some rock pics just for you - check out my gallery. Thumbs Up!

Very nice shot! The curve is very interesting and the sun rays are like spotlights..

Nice to see you back, so Santa came early this year then? If you have a RAW file of this you should be able to reduce the contrast to balance up the exposure. If you haven't, why not? Nice composition anyway, good shot.

Thanks guys, I must admit I am all fingers and thumbs with this camera! I have to start from basics again, frustrating I know but great fun. Santa did come early, think I spent the whole Christmas budget on this....Kids not happy. lol. Geof, I do have this in raw, but again have to go over your tut's again to learn how to work with them. Thanks again for ur comments and good to be back in the gallary.

What made you decide to go with Canon over Nikon - I'm just curious?

I realize that this is just a test shot with the new camera - but, I think I'd stay away from shooting UK beach scenes at this time of year - unless, it happens to be a rare, beautiful day. Simply because that dreary 'grey' colour & vibe takes up 99% of the scene. There's mostly little contrast between the sky and ocean during winter months, thus creating a very flat composition.

IF you had used a polarizer on this shot - it might seperate the sky/cloud sufficiently enough to give contrast - it's definitely worth getting one as you live by the seaside.

Kev, I had both camera's in my hands and almost had to flick a coin to decide. I suppose what swung me was product loyalty, I know sad but true!

Cheers Lolly, hey no laughs at my first attempts!!! Lol
