I really like the effect of this photo with the depth of field making sharp shells in the middle and the bright colours. It is a bit dark around the edges but I think that might add to it to move the focus of the scene to the middle birght bits!!!

I think you'll find the dark edge effect is a vignette that was added afterwards in editing. I like this one too, it's a nice composition.

Thanks for the kind words...I used a distortion filter called the pinch in ps, also a spotlight filter to create the dark edges.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
