The colours look a bit over saturated here. I know the sea is a lovely blue/green down in southern OZ but the other regions look a tad exaggerated.

I like the wide angle perspective tho.

Your horizon level is smack bang in the middle of the frame which tends to make the shot look flat.

I see that you are using a Nikon...and recommend that you use NX2 to process your NEF files...if you are not using it.

thanks Kev, to be honest my camera is new and it's not long out of the box. I've just taken my first 1000 photos (in little over a week) and I'm still learning what the camera and lenses are capable of... and revisiting lessons learned several years ago with the old Nikon F80.

I've been shooting in jpeg format. As for what happens when i get the photos onto the computer.. a whole new world!! I'm using a mac so they go straight to IPhoto which I used to crop, increase saturation and increase the contrast a little. The original photo was washed out and very flat.. (a combination of 'middle of the day' and the lenses I'm working with I suspect). I think, in looking at it now I've overdone the saturation and perhaps also the contrast. I'll have another crack at it.

Kev, can NX2 offer me anything that photoshop CS3 or iphoto don't do? I think I'd have to purchase NX2. I'm trying to break the habit of buying and then not using programs.
