Hi Tracey,
I guess Melbourne is slowely drifting into spring about now...some warm days & some still a bit cool, this time of year.


Nice colours here. I wouldn't crop a pic like this quite so hard. Let the flowers breathe a little bit more.


I know you want to get that blurred background bokeh on this shot...but I would have used a bit smaller aperture, say f/11, in order to get a bit better DOF accros the blooms.


IF you position yourself so there's plenty of room between the subject anf backdrop, you will still get a decent blurring and more DOF on the flower at the same time. Or, shoot it with a longer lens...


Also, you really shouldn't have to go above ISO 200 with an outdoor floral shot. Even on a cloudy day (which is the best for flowers)...there should be sufficient light. Using ISO or below will help keep the noise aspect to a minimum.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
