I liked these drums when they were in the water and I like them again now. The composition is good on the diagonal...and when viewed at the larger sixe they have a lot of presence.
There is a somewaht orange tinge to the shot - I don't know IF this is natural or created by you. It might be a good idea to try the various picture control settings on the D300 to see which one gives the best representation. Sometimes I'm quite surprised at the results when I experiment with that function...and I get a nicer final pic which was rather unexpected.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
