This is my youngest on her 16th b/day. Decided to try some indoor portraits but don't have proper lighting. For the mono shot I boosted contrast and added noise in PS to soften it. Just experimenting!!

Sorry G/W, but this one doesn't do it for me. Too grainy and softly focused, and, pardon me for saying this as I know she doesn't look like this at all, but she looks really "blokey" in this. In fact from the thumbnail, I thought it was a young bloke. The grainy shadow across the chin doesn't help either and her nose shadow is a bit too big. If only half her face was lit, then that might take care of most of the issues, but it's still a no from me, sorry.

Thanks H. This was the reason why I posted - to get the feedback, be they good or bad. I agree with everything you said and will take on board. Smile

Even tho she does look a bit blokey, rather than chicky Smile I still prefer this shot out of the two facials. It actually looks better in the smaller (ie: more distant) perspective....up close, yes it has that unflattering chin, etc. This reminds me of an old Neil Young album cover. I do think this approach can be interesting, you just need to make sure she looks more provocative. I like the eye, and the way it's just below the hat line.
