Yup! 3 exposures at -1, 0, +1 merged in Photomatix and a little post processing in PS. Been practising and quite happy with how it turned out. Wonder how Honez feels about it with his love for HDR.

Pretty good GW, but I can't help thinking, seeing as this is HDR, the composition could have been improved by including a gleaming hotrod in there somewhere. ; -)
Having said that, I might have been tempted to use a slightly different angle on the subject though. Maybe a bit closer and lower to get the Sand/life belt in at the bottom of the frame, with the building/sky at the top left and the stairs coming up from the bottom right of the frame to lead you up to the building. It's a bit hard to say without actually being there, but the steps leading up look to be a strong compositional element that could have been used a little more to tell more of a story about the subject:
Stark/stormy HDR clouds ---> Surf lifesaving building ---> stairs leading down to life belt ---> Sandy beach.
Obviously it's easier to toss these kind of comments in after the fact.
Still a nice landscape though and subtly done on the tonemapping, which I think is a good thing for this composition. Getting the compositional elements in as I suggested my have required a heavier approach to bring out a bit more of a hint of darkness and danger to the scene.
Obviously take all this with a pinch of salt, 'cause none of my images have that much thought in 'em at the time. : -/
Cheers,
h

well at least your an honest man, h, lol!! Seriously though you make a good point there. Admit i hadn't thought of the lower vantage point at all. But keep it coming, you see more than I do. Did not want to go the full 'painterly' effect here because I thought it would be 'too much' for this subject so tried to keep it subtle. Will just have to keep practising.
PS. not many gleaming hotrods in Donegal. How about a Massey Ferguson or John Deere tractor?;)

Ah, now you're talkin'. A pimped up, lowered and tricked out Massey Ferguson would be ideal. : -)
