I would like someone to come with a suggestion on other ways to manipulate the sky in these shots.

I love the sharp angle of this shot. Yes skies are not easy, if you are going to sandwich in a sky then the scale has to be right, which it wasn't on your other shot.


The other way would have been to take another shot at the same time as this but exposing for the sky and letting the wall go dark. Then sandwich the two together and cut a mask to reveal the sky. Then you would have an authentic shot by combining two frames.


To do the job really well it would be best to use a tripod to get the two shots framed exactly the same. If you don't have a tripod with you then you could just move to an open space, keep the zoom the same and try to keep the angle roughly the same, and shoot away.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
