oooohh, a very dark vibe there Wolfie. Looks like the end of the world is a coming Smile The more I look at it the better it gets...however, overall I think it would have been nicer if there was some 'contrasting' regions too.

IF you had used a tripod and long exposure...you would have captured a greater luminosity range and the colours may have been far more dynamic.

Last year, I took some sunset shots in really low lighting conditions (with tripod and long shutter)...and I got a few, rather surprisingly very nice images.

You are right, buddy. I'm really disappointed with this one. I took all your advice re taking my time, comp, tripod etc and completely ruined it in post processing. Tried a couple of shots in Sp and manual of the same scene with long exp times but could not figure out the in camera exp compensation. shots were coming out really dark or really bright and got frustrated and dumped them. Trying to get away from the semi auto sometimes but most of the time doesn't work. Any advice Kev.

Well, looking at the image...it appears (to me) that there's generally far too much cloud cover to allow that nice, golden sunset look. Also, it seems that the SUN is still quite high in the sky...and not actually a true "sunset" shot.

The best time to take sunsets...is about 15-45 mins AFTER the sun has gone below the horizon (ie: the "golden hour")...which is when that lovely orange glow is present. Combine that with some interesting cloud patterns, and voila!
