Lolly, I'm just curious...which lens are you using on these images?...it reads like the 105mm VR, or similar.

Kev,
You are exactly right..Nikon 18-105 VR with my New Nikon D300s. As you can tell I'm very excited to be using it!
These pics were taken without a tripod...I was in a hurry at the time..lol

Let me give you a word of advice.
Always use a tripod when shooting flowers Smile It will improve your images by at least 30%.
Also, now that you have the D300s...shoot in 14-bit RAW, and do your basic processing in NX2...which works with NEF files better than any other editing program.
These images are kinda soft....so I am assuming that you don't have the in-camera sharpening set very high.
I suggest that you keep it set to Zero (0)...and learn how to apply USM sharpening in NX2/Photoshop. Also, your flower pics are rather dull, which means that you need to apply certain levels adjustments to boost the mid-range (d-lighting) settings. Remember, with digital photography...post processing is 50% of the workflow equation. It's really necessary to learn the pp stuff in order to obtain great results.
