This is one of my first experiments with portraits. I did not tell him to pose smiling, just to eat the Watermelon, but something struck him as funny, and as things go, this turned out to be my best one!

Hi Beth, This is a nice pose...and he has a very natural expression. Plus there's plenty going on - interest-wise, what with the kitten, etc.


Obviously the colours are a bit too saturated...and I also think the crop is rather tight as well.


I notice that you are still uploading large files...it's better to make them just 900 pix on the longest side...so that when they are displayed here you will get a better quality image.

I have been trying to make them smaller, but I am not quite sure how to do it. The is a thing in Photoshop that allows me to resize them, is that what I need to use?

I wanted to see what you guys thought about the photo, because there is a photo contest coming uo with cash prizes. The catagories and Tennessee Barns, Childhood Memories, and Rural Living. I thought of entering the sepia barn for the Barns, and this one for the childhood memories. I haven't quite figured out the last one though Smile

Yep, just go image> image size> and then change the pix accordingly and save a new file.


It's best to keep the longest side at 900 pix....coz then when they are uploaded to the site they won't loose quality etc.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
