Altho this photo could be a lot sharper - I do like it (when viewed in the larger size)...simply because it portrays the intense experience that the Dead Sea has to offer - the heat, the haze off the water, the starkness of the surrounding desert, etc. The area is considerably different today...than it was when I regularly visited there back in the 1970's. The sea itself has shrunk (evaporated) by almost 30% at the southern end...revealing the large salt-crystal monoliths, etc. This shot brings back many fond memories of my trips to nearby Masada. I even wrote/created a song about it @ http://www.acidplanet.com/artist.asp?PID=260262&t=6056

Thank you for the comment Kev, for a starter like me it helps a lot. While taking this photo I felt the same way as you did, Dead Sea is getting smaller Sad. I took a lot of shots in Masada but only for remembrance purposes and it's embarrassing to show them to photographers Smile.
