Like the way one tree leans in towards the road seems to lead you in to the picture
i always find Black and white pics seem to Lack some substance .
Am reading a tutorial just now using Burn and Doging and seems to pull something more in to B&W pics

Yes I agree with you, please post this image after you have given it the treatment it would be nice to see the enhancement.

I must admit...I'm not a big B&W fan either...however, I do think this works quite well here. The composition is good...and, the B&W sorta gives it that 'nostalgia" vibe...which leads to thought provocation, etc.
I'm guessing that you chose B&W here, coz it actually looks better than the colour file version (?)

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
