The skies are often very clear and crisp this time of year. Here's a sunset taken from the bottom of my street...looking across the water from Vancouver Island towards Washington State, USA. I went for the black sillouette foreground look to completely contrast with the colours of the sky.
This shot was captured about 40 minutes after the sun had gone down below the horizon.

...and I think you managed to enhance the sky's colours. Everything is so quiet, peaceful. Nice sunset! Smile

Well, it was actually almost dark when I took this shot. The shutter speed was 1/5s on the tripod...and everything was dead calm.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
