Angel's Trumpet

meltimtiman Registered: May 2010 Posts: 390	I went to a botanical garden yesterday and saw this Angel's Trumpet. In the Philippines, we call it Talampunay, a medicinal plant used to relieve Asthma. When boiled and taken in unregulated doses, it causes hallucinations and anxiety. In extreme doses, it causes the mind to snap and may lead to suicidal tendencies. The garden owner sells this as if it was just an ordinary ornamental plant. Weird huh.... Ok, now, how I wish I have a macro or close up lens for this and maybe a good background.

I think it's rather pretty the way it is now. I want to visit the Botanical Gardens soon. We have some about 2 hrs away Smile

I think it would be fun!

The Angel's Trumpet (Datura Stramonium - Solanaceae) is very common throughout the tropics...I've seen them all over SE Asia, India, Hawaii, Mexico, Jamaica, and South America. I like the colours on your shot, and it's nice and clean, clear too. Yes, a good 100mm macro lens would certainly provide a better IQ/image.

Yes I also shoot outdoors, and in fact...would do so a lot more...however, I live right next to the ocean and therefore sea breezes are a constant challenge.

I think I would try both a reverse ring and an extension tube to see which method actually works best for you. Both should technically not degrade the optical IQ because they both don't add any additional glass to the mix
