Blue and White

meltimtiman Registered: May 2010 Posts: 390	I dont know if I did this right. Settings were ISO 800, aperture at F/8, 1/50 shutter speed, using a Canon 50mm 1.4 lens. Bumped up the ISO to get a clearer and deeper shot. Or should I just stayed at f/5.6 and lowered the ISO to around 400 so I could shoot at a higher shutter speed. Since they didnt allow tripods, this was done hand held. What do you think?

Think you have caught this one spot on considering it was hand held it is pretty sharp but with good depth of field.Wish my hand was that steady :-)

The image is definitely clean and sharp...so no problems there.
However, I would have got in closer...coz I think this shot is kinda in the middle-no mans land sorta range. With flowers, they really come alive more...when you can actually see the fine details and have that upfront presence. At least like this:

The spash of purple/blue against the greenery is really nice..but I think its a little too far back.

Thanks for the comments, richingr, Beth, and Kev. My bad there, Kev. I did more than 20 shots at different angles and distances but at 1/50 shutter speed and hand held, that was the only 1 that came out sharpest. I shot this at 2 meters away from the subject thinking I'll just crop it when I reach home. Anyway, will keep that in mind. Will go in closer next time.
