Not really a stunning shot but I thought it might be interesting. You don't get much time to mess about when these shots come up, just grab the camera and see what you can do before it goes away. There seems to be a hell of a lot of noise in the sky for 400 ISO, but I think it's because the shot was a bit under exposed.

How do you ever leave your balcony when you have a view like that? I can only imagine how cool that must have been.

I'm rather surprised that your 16MP camera would create so much noise at ISO 400 in those lighting conditons. I have shot many low-light shots at ISO in almost total darkness (with a slow shutter speed of course)...and obtained a relatively noise free image. Maybe it's a Canon enigma, as I've heard recently that Nikon is much better for low-light shooting.


For example, it was practically dark when I took this shot (f/16) at 4s...about 45 mins after the sun had set.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
