I like the detail, Rich, but I'm not really into the white background. I tend to prefer black, as I think it makes the subject stand out more. However, I think the flower itself is nice!

When you place this on black backdrop the flower look a lot lighter.

Once again, I think that this proves that jet-black just is the best backdrop for studio flower shots. Obviously, there are other colours and/or textures that would/could work well.......however, finding/creating one would probably be a rather labourious process.

Yes, subject colours and brightness, etc will change according to what colour backdrop is placed behind it. This is because our visual system works in a relative/collective manner...and not simply as 'stand alone' retinal rods in the vision-brain linkup. Each seperate colour sensory stimulus 'influences' HOW we perceive things as a whole....and objects can change quite dramatically when their backgrounds alter. Also colour-balance plays a role too....similar to grey-card principles....certain colours can change the entire 'tonal quality' of an image in one direction or another.

This flower is a tad creepy....coz it really has the vibe of a DADO shot....and, if I didn't know better >>>>>> Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile
