Subject lightened and picture vignette added using colour from flower at 25% for fill to vignette.
Take care .

Yeah, I think this works pretty well. I've tried a tan type background myself on a few flower pics and it is definitely one of the best non-black alternatives.
Here's one

The vignette ties in the frame nicely too in your image.

Cheers Kev. Love the colours on your amarylis. If you study this picture a lot of it is down to your tuition ,I tried to even out the space at sides and top and used D Lighting and then Individualy boosted each of the flowers and stems.
Think there are only certain colours that you could use on the tan backdrop. Can not see me using that much. Ta Mucho

Grasshopper...when you can take the pebble from my hand...then you may leave the temple.

or, better still...I can leave Smile

When I view the image at the larger size...I notice some 'halo-ing' effect around the edges of the flowers...which suggests USM over-sharpening.

I know that you are using a tripod, and the other required accessories, etc...so I'm a little curious....as to why the subject is not truly crisp and presenting with somewhat more fine detail.

It could be related to the lighting used - but I doubt it.

I'm thinking, that you are probably at the point now...where you actually need to purchase a better camera and/or macro lens...in order to improve the overall image IQ. I believe it's now a case of 'diminishing returns' with the current equip that you are using.

As you are a Canon shooter...I do know that the Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro is an excellent lens....here's a flower website of a guy I know in Toronto who uses that lens for all his floral shots.

Hi Kev. I dont think i sharpened this one to much as it was quite good.Might be my photoshop skills . I took the shot on a white backdrop then highlighted the white background and expanded selection by 1 pixel then feathered by 1 pixel. At the moment i am using the Canon 60D with Tamron 90mm lens which got a really good write up.Im am going to raid the piggy bank soon for a decent lens for landscape stuff do better macro lens will need to wait.(Mmm birthday is getting near) Smile
I will need to get a lot better before i go for a full frame camera unless lottery comes up. Your associates pictures are on par with your ones for sure.
