I just chucked some coloured glass items into a white bowl and took a few pics. Then added the 'poster style' effect in Photoshop.
I think it turned out reasonably well.

When you say 'poster style' what do you mean? I can see the blurred bit.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
