I bought this Salvia plant today for the front garden and thought it would work OK as a test subject. Whilst it's not an overly WOW looking flower...
I did manage to use an f/22 aperture at close range AND still get a very creamy background bokeh...which was my goal here.

Practice makes perfect . Interesting looking flower and bokeh perfect

Yeah, even at f/22 one still only gets about 5mm of good depth at this 'almost macro' distance...but I think it's enough and I didn't want to over sharpen at all...just to help compensate.
The background was only about 20ft behind the subject this time.

Another one of those plants where the flower pops out of the middle of the stem? You must have something in the water up there that does that. Wink

Yeah, it's all the beaver cheese and moose poop that we put onto our soil...it makes all the leaves fall off Smile

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
