This is a nice composition, but there's that blue halo again. It might be worthwhile doing some experiments taking a series of photos with differerent camera settings to see if it is specific to one of the automatic shooting modes.

I think you are experiencing CA's here simply because you are pushing the camera lens to the max. CA's are usually caused by the lens...and, it's having a hard time here controlling the balance between foreground and background on the subject area. You are focusing on the insect head (which is correct)...but the lens is not of a high enough quality to capture the entire focal range here.
CA's are just optical distortion, which of course will occur...IF all the parameters are not good. IF you had used say f/11 or f/16, the blue fringing probably wouldn't be present.

Hi Kev

Thank you... so in that case the solution is stay away from shots which would push the limits and wait for my better half to suprise me with a more capable camera. Of course i read all your tutorilas and narrowed it down to eighter Nikon or Canon would you be kind and suggest a model for me/her..
Thanks for your itme.

Well, as always it's your budget that will dictate which camera body you end up buying, I've always used Nikon (since 1971) so I'm kinda biased...however, whilst Canon lenses are of equal quality/performance...I do think that Nikon traditionally have the edge regarding bodies.

To be honest, IF you are going to take the plunge and buy a decent camera. I'd wait for the upcoming Nikon D400 (DX) or D800 (FX) bodies.

The currrent D7000 (16.2 Mpix) body is a good intermediate level choice IMHO.
