I have a lot of admiration for "old school" photographers. You had to envision what the image would look like in B/W, set the exposure based on a meter (your ISO was set by the type of film you had in the camera), then take the shot and hope. You wouldn't see the outcome until you developed. No quick check previews on the LCD screen. (Oh, and you got to breathe those nasty smelling chemicals.) Not a lot of room to fix it in post.

hi Clem
yes i am an old school fotografer but tinks were not as bad as you think.

my assy has no meter at all but i have a minolta ambient and flash meter that is as good or better than any top camera meter today .
of corse today is a lot easier to look at the back of the camera and post processing was very limited in the darkroom in the other end. 35mm cameras for a meter there was a little needle in the camera and you could be assured 50% bad exposures
