This was a quick, somewhat candid, shot. The sun was pretty direct over head -- but I thought the pose was too great to miss -- especially on the stone background. And when kids are posed, you have to frame and click quickly, trying to make something out of it.


So, yeah, I went a little heavy on the contrast, but I thought it worked with the somewhat dramatic composition.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
