Not boring at all katpam. I'd liked to have seen the image a little wider so the in-focus glass base wasn't cropped on the RHS. I like what you tried to do here, but think that, maybe, instead of the stems being the subject, the bowl of the glasses were. There's a lot more room for interesting refracted colours and reflections there, and through judicious use of bouncing flash or reflective surfaces, you would likely have got some interesting and colourful reflections.
A perspective depth of field kind of shot like this, I feel, would be improved with three elements rather than just the two (glasses) here. Nice effort though, and, like I said, I don't think it's a boring shot.

Thanks for the comments. I have a few other shots, but the bowl of the glasses are quite detailed and at times look "busy", but that may be me.

Agree with Honez here. After all photography is all about light and in a lot of cases ...colour. Like the idea but am intigued by the colour at the top of the shot ( on the bowl) and would have liked to see more Smile

I really appreciate the comments. Problem is~ I am so critical of my own work~ I hate the way the wine glasses look (despite the fact they are treasured gifts), when I put them in different settings ~ they seem blurry, and I want perfect.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
