The composition is OK/fine...ie: get in close to show detail, etc...However, on a shot like this it's best to set the 'focus' on the stamens...simply because they are the centre of attraction and where the viewers eyes will naturally fall first.


As a rule, with many a subject matter...it's better to have the foreground in focus and a DOF dropoff in the background....rather than vice-versa.


Also, this shot is kind of dull....which neans that it needs some mid-range levels adjustments (ie: D-lighting,etc) in post-processing software....in order to bring the image alive.


Post processing (ie: developing) is essential in today's digital photog realm...it's an integral component of the overall process. Capturing the image is only 50% of the work...processing the image is the other half.


A few quick (and easy) tweaks...can make a lot of difference to the end result.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
