With any still-life or product shot like this...one needs to put the main concentration on the subject itself. Which means, that it should be upfront, with lots of detail, and grabbing the viewers attention, etc.

The background here is nice and black...but the subject is a little lost within it...Ie: get in much closer...so we can see the detail on the doll. Hence, the subject also needs to be sharp & optically clear. This would also be best suited in a portrait perspective with a lot less background showing.

The concept of the black background is to 'enhance' the subject matter...but not to overide or compete with it.

It's not a bad effort, and of course with practice these things can easily be learned.

Keep on shooting...

Thanks Kev for all your feedback. Just can't tell you how much this means to me.... Smile

This is a real place to learn. I got hooked to this site last month and from then its no stopping for me. I never had a change to undergo any training or anyone to guide me like this. I even made two studio light (with a bit help from my GF) last weekend, as I don't have money to buy one... But it was fun !!!

I also would love to get the doll more zoomed in and sharp but I actually do not own a DSLR. I used a tripod and also used timer to avoid the camera shake but I think its much to expect a sony cyber shot W220 to compete with DSLR. Wish I had the money to buy one Sad

But I do understand your point and will try those with my next shots... Thumbs Up!
