I was told that Black Windows were starting to become an issue in Missouri several years ago; however, I had never personally seen one, so I was a little skeptical.


That is until I found this lil' bugger hangin' outside my front door. Even though it looks deceased, it was a liar! It actually ended up crawling away while I was trying to shoot it.


I'm not sure what is up with the red thread... Maybe it was trying to knit?

Interesting shot jack, I hadn't realised before how much Black Widows look like Redback spiders.
I like the mirrored reflection to give it some balance too.
Not sure what to make of the thread either. Very curious.

I wish I could have been more prepared for the shot, but you have to just make do most of the time.


I took Juli's eyebrow tweezers from out of her purse and threw the spider up on the SUV hood, were there was a nice reflection, because frankly, I didn't want to try and roll the spider over too much.


I then took a piece of white paper I was holding and placed it just behind the lil' guy.

But I don't think I could get away with harassing a lizard with a pair of makeup tweezers and live to tell the tail. I'll take my chances with the spider. Wink

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
