Rich, thanks! Okay, the 70-300 zoom with Macro? Or another one? I saw the 70-300 macro and like it as well.

Hi Beth it was the 90mm macro i had and was pretty good but not a all round lens.
Set something or somebody where you will be in focus and set camera on the object by auto focus then gently change it to manual focus and self timer then run to the right spot.

I have found having a fast prime really useful! love the quality it gives me over the kit lens and that I can use it in harder situations, just something to consider as they are like $120, something to consider.
Also so jealous that you can come off natural, I always seem to look like an idiot when having my photo taken

I'm looking at getting a prime lens, Preeb! What one do you suggest? I was looking at the 50mm - not really sure though. It seems to have great reviews.
Ha! Not usually! lol! I hate having my photo taken. But when I get to take it myself, I have a little more control.... but yeah, those family snapshots? I think I look awful.

Yeah, I have a pentax 35mm, but I have heard great things about the cannon 50mm. Literally since I got my 35mm its been constantly on my camera (although I havnt had much time to do any photography) it really gives such better quality photos.
Couldnt reccomend getting one more and have heard from cannon peeps that the 50mm is great, great place to start

Thanks, Phreeb - ordered the 50mm Sunday night. It should be great for portraits, as on the T2i, a crop sensor camera, it's the equivalent of 80mm... can't wait =)
