Lanner Falcon at a falconry display at Battle Abbey.

Shot with a Canon Powershot S3 IS, annoyingly about a day before my new Nikon D70 is due to arrive.

Keep Your Distance... great name for this one. This bird looks particularly hungry.

I'm a Canon user, myself, so that just adds to the picture... heh heh heh Smile Nice job. Looking forward to some shots from your Nikon.

Not that I don't like Canon or anything, that camera has served me well, but it is rather limited, as I was nastily reminded of when trying to capture these guys in flight. One of the main reasons I went with Nikon for my upgrade to DSLR is that all of the entry level Canons tend to be rather small and light, and I have pretty big hands. If I had a bit more money to invest though, the 30D would certainly be on my list.

I like the composition of this shot and, you're right, he does look menacing. Unfortunately the focus is not quite in the right place, I think it could be sharpened up in Photoshop. You would need to do it carefully so it doesn't look too obvious.

Have a look at this tutorial for some pointers.
