This is one of the first pictures I took with my Nikon D60. All settings on automatic, as I'm not familiar with the manual yet.

Almost nice, but the DOF is too shallow and the sharpness not there. Try with a tripod and set aperture to f/5.6 (just a guess).


I like the composition, color and contrast.

At this distance you would need to stop down to f22 to make everything sharp, even then there's no guarantee.
I like the lighting on this picture and the composition is nice but it does need at least something to be in focus.

I agree and I appreciate the comments. I just learned all the basic manual controls on my camera yesterday, so I'm going to try them out. Thanks so much!

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
