This is my Oranda goldfish. I've had him about a year and a half. In this photo, he actually had dropsy which, due to an enlarged abdomen, causes the scales to stick out a little from the body.


By the way, I haven't forgotten the waterfall. I will go back to correct my mistakes. I just haven't had time recently. Fortunately, my next few days off will be filled because I'm going to see Radiohead. yay!

I like the lighting and colours in this shot, but it needs to be sharper and with more depth of field. The best way to shoot fish in a tank is to point a flashgun down into the tank from above (take the lid off first :-)). This can take a bit of arranging, you need some sort of stand and a flash cable, but it's worth it.

If your monitor is calibrated properly you should see sixteen distinct tones from white to black.
